Membership

We are a volunteer-run museum and therefore rely on our membership to help in all aspects of the museum, from building maintenance to exhibit design. All that is required to join is an enthusiasm for Metchosin’s History.

Please come and join us.

The Society operates two museums: the Pioneer Museum, located by the Farmers’ Market, and the Schoolhouse Museum, across Happy Valley Road. A significant amount of the Society’s funding comes from Old Barn Books, found in the Pioneer Museum.

The Society relies on volunteers, and any assistance is appreciated. Volunteers also enjoy the opportunity to learn some of the fascinating stories behind the artifacts on display.

Donations

Donations and bequests are an extremely important contributor to the sustainability of the Museum Society and its work. A bequest from the estate of Eric Clay made possible the major and very expensive structural repairs to the Metchosin Schoolhouse Museum in 2020.

The Metchosin Museum Society will issue tax receipts for donations and bequests greater than $50.
